Popular Ghanaian musician cum fashionista, Kwame Nsiah Appau, known on stage as Okyeame Kwame has explained how the defunct Akyeame group collapsed.
Speaking on “Aggressive Interview” with Kwaku Manu, he said the group had its earlier challenges when he travelled in 1999.
“I went to the States in 1999 and returned in 2004 with some few musical accoutrements and 1000 dollars. After clearance at the harbour I was left with 300 so I went back to Kumasi to continue solo” he said.
He further adds that after spending close to 5years in the States, he came home with few musical equipments and 1000 dollars which he described as meagre, because it couldn’t cover all his expenses and unfortunately at the time, Okyeame Quophi had left the group already because of lack of funds to continue.
However, the 2020 VGMA record of the year award has his banger “y33ko” doing well across social media and airplay across the country.
